Spring Is In the Air
Fun and Festive Party Ideas

Spring is in the air!
With warm, sunny days approaching, now is the time to take full advantage of the fabulous weather to increase your bookings, sales and sponsoring efforts.  Building your calendar now with solid bookings for April and May will carry your business through the summer months when business can be slower. Plus, booking now will prepare you with plenty of bookings and recruit prospects for earning the upcoming trip promotion May-August.  In order to do that, spend some time each day building your April and May calendars because the bookings derived from these shows will make for a very prosperous summer.

Creating summer business should be the primary focus during April and May. Book and hold as many shows as possible! I'm sure you'll all agree that it's much easier to obtain bookings from live shows than to rely on cold calling. And since this can be a busy time for many people, encourage your hostesses to book within a two-week timeframe, which will ensure strong, solid bookings.

With our summer trip contest it is even that much more important to not only book those parties but be sure to book in close!

To enhance these bookings, there are many things you can do to fill your spring calendars:

1. Use theme shows. Encourage "summer fun" themes: pool, patio and hot tub parties. Keep cool! Suggest refreshing drinks such as strawberry crush, ice cream sodas, flavored floats and iced tea.

Summertime is party time! How about one of these parties?

* Brunch Party (Perfect for summer! Before the guests get out for the day shopping or doing yard work ladies really enjoy a morning get together. Everyone can bring a dish!)

* Celebrate Moms! (Especially perfect for anytime in May! Moms and daughters invite each other! Daughters can purchase a gift for moms!)
* Banana split party (The hostess could furnish ice cream, and everyone could bring her favorite topping.)
* Mexican Fiesta party (Serve tacos or Mexican chips and dips.)
* Have an outdoor BBQ!  (Light up the grill, set up your party outdoor and have a great time!)
* Morning coffee party (hostess provides coffee cake or muffins and coffee).
* "Sunday Sundae" show (Hostess serves ice cream sundaes for dessert. Yum!)
*  Red, white and blue party (Decorate with a patriotic theme). CH will often offer an American Spirit Promotion during the summer. Watch for promotions to be posted on the Web.

People enjoy something different, and these theme shows really boost attendance. Use stickers or colored pens on your party mailers to announce a wine and cheese, pizza, fondue or dessert party. Sounds fun, doesn't it?

2. Focus on upcoming holidays. Easter in April; Mother's Day in May; Father's Day, graduations, etc. And there are always birthdays, housewarmings and anniversaries to remember. Use bright summer colors on your display and festive visual aids to suggest upcoming gift-giving opportunities.  Now is the time to show off the Veranda pottery, the Simply Summer collection, the garden décor etc.

3. Spring and Summer Weddings. With CH you can promote gift registries...with party connect you can provide an excellent service for your Brides-to-Be.  Bridal showers are also an excellent business building opportunity.  Network with bridal shops in your area and let them know of the services you can provide! Review the following documents to help build your summer business: (updates will soon include party connect information!) View much more information on bridal registries and showers here:  www.homepartyopportunities.com/bride1.htm.

4. Use special packaging themes. Create attractive baskets combining some of your hot new items with an "old favorite" or two. Wrap it up with bright cellophane and top with ribbon and streamers.  Last Chance/First Glance opportunities to sell from both catalogs are excellent for June bookings!  Really promote the items that are retiring from the spring/summer catalog to boost those bookings and sales!

5. Hold "multiple hostess" or "group" shows at a local restaurant, pizza parlor, church hall, clubhouse, hotel or gymnasium. Select a theme, i.e., Bingo Night, Christmas in July, summer closeout sale or new product launch. Your hostesses can relax because all they need to do is invite their guests (decorative flyers can be sent to guests), bring a platter of cookies (or furnish hors d'oeuvres, pizza or desserts) and enjoy the show!

6. Organize a "sidewalk sale" or "one-stop shopping show" with other direct sellers. Everyone invites his/her own hostesses, customers and clients, and brings her own card table, supplies, etc. This is an easy way to create some additional summer sales, and it creates an excellent opportunity for networking as well. These events are very successful, as attendance is always high, due to the variety of goods being offered.

7. Have a garage sale. Display some of your products on a separate table, along with flyers and upcoming specials, new products, etc. As people are browsing at your used household items, you can share information about your company products and programs. Great way to network and to get bookings!

8. Have a show while you're on vacation! If you're visiting out-of-town friends, plan to schedule a show while you are there. The date can be determined in advance and reminders sent before you arrive. Bring along your products and supplies, and enjoy the show! Your friends will enjoy the chance to see your products firsthand, and who knows? You may even recruit someone while you are there.

9. Rent a booth at a local festival or fair. Summertime takes on a festive carnival-like atmosphere, as local balloon festivals, art shows, street fairs, church bazaars and craft fairs spring up everywhere. Set up a simple but eye-catching display, offer a special prize and have passers-by fill out door prize slips to register. Check local newspapers to learn about dates and locations of upcoming fairs. For more info on fairs review the material here:

www.homepartyopportunities.com/fairs1.htm.

10. Have a summer open house at your own home. Offer prizes for bringing a guest, booking a show, etc. Or set up your display at your hair or nail salon or local health spa. You'll be surprised at how many new business leads you will generate! For more information on holding an open house visit here: www.homepartyopportunities.com/grandopening1.htm.

Hint:  Because May and June can be very busy with travel, weddings, yard work on weekends etc try to encourage bookings on weeknights for higher attendance.

Think spring. Plant the seeds that will grow your business! Take advantage of the longer daylight hours to build your businesses, and with just a little creativity, you will have the most productive summer ever!

Enjoy!
